The A-1300 is a dual dialect storage appliance that offers both NAS and
IP-SAN storage in a single, affordable appliance. Ready for use as
primary storage in existing Ethernet networks, it also features iSCSI
support, enabling block data from applications like Microsoft® Exchange,
SQL Server and Oracle® to be deployed or stored on the same server as
traditional file services and storage. Ideal for either primary or
secondary storage, it provides enterprise-level features at a price that
is attractive to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
The A-1300 comes preinstalled with dual dialect StorTrends iTX software,
which enables transfer of both block and file data over the existing
Ethernet network. It provides advanced disaster recovery features such
as synchronous, asynchronous, snapshot-assisted and journal-assisted
replication, failover, and failback. StorTrends iTX also features high
availability grouping, network teaming support for load balancing across
its dual Ethernet ports, UPS support with write-through caching,
advanced snapshots, SAN and NAS snapshot scheduling and advanced caching
for IP-SAN appliances.
The Volume replication of the A-1300 allows data to be stored on
multiple A-1300 appliances at multiple sites, for high availability and
disaster recovery in the event of a catastrophe. Its advanced snapshot
capability features Redirect-on-Write (ROW) technology with near-zero
degradation when writing or rolling back snapshots, achieved by reducing
the number of I/O operations by a factor of three. Administrators can
schedule up to 1,022 read-write and 1,022 read-only snapshots per
volume, and up to 2,048 snapshots per box. SAN snapshots are supported
through Microsoft® VSS snapshot technology, or by specific agents for
application servers such Exchange Server and Oracle. Microsoft®
VSS-based snapshots also support SQL Server and agent-less LAN-free
backup.
Advanced caching improves read and write-back performance, and allows
for efficient I/O scheduling, while I/O aggregation significantly
improves snapshot performance. Target caching support also significantly
improves performance, and the UPS support featured in StorTrends iTX
enables the automatic switching of the target cache mode to
write-through in the event of a power loss. The reliability of the
A-1300 is rounded out with hot swappable hard drive bays with SATA
support and a redundant 450W power supply.
ManageTrends™, AMI's Storage Management Suite and web-based GUI
interface, discovers and manages StorTrends appliances deployed across
the network and assists in analyzing and tracking enterprise wide
storage usage. ManageTrends monitors the storage and storage-related
events, provides a detailed analysis of the storage usage and the
availability of the storage servers.
