The C-316 features a Intel Xeon 5504 series processor and a premium LSI SAS RAID engine featuring 512MB of DDR2-800MHz battery backed cache and 4x1GbE connections with 10GbE options

Upgrade options include the addition of up to 3 additional RAID controllers offering enormous expansion possibilities and parallel RAID processing. Each RAID controller will support up to 8 JBODS and up to 240 devices (with 12, 16, 24 or 36 drives each) giving a maximum expansion of >800 drives using 2.5" drives or 3.5" drives. Other upgrade options include 4,6,8,10x1GbE or 1,2,3,4 ports of 10GbE. The expansion options have been carefully engineered to offer dual fault-tolerant and load-balanced pathways (essentially a SAS loop) so that JBODs can be added or replaced in a hot-plug manner without disturbing production. This model benchmarks at over 700MB/s with 1GbE connections and over 800MB/s with 10GbE connections. We are also now proud to offer a SSD option here using the Intel X-25-E SSD drive. This cost effective SSD offers 3600IOPS of random 4K write performance (the usual weak point of SSD) while saving a significant amount of power. For those users with workloads that tax even these super fast CPUs we support the upgrading to dual Xeons (E5504) with a 1333MHz FSB to push the performance envelope even further.
